Five Truths Everyone Should Know About Hell.

#1 Hell is real.

“Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:” Matthew 25:41

Many scoffers have tried their best to get people to believe that there is no Hell. They say things like, “A loving God wouldn’t send people to Hell.” “Hell is right here on earth.” Even many false religions say there is no Hell, but our bodies are just placed into the grave after death. Regardless of what excuse or human reasoning may be brought out and argued, there is one thing that cannot be argued against. That is the Word of God. Hell was created by God for the devil and his angels that rebelled against Him. Because of man’s sin and wickedness, Hell has been chosen as a holding place for the lost until the day they stand before God and are cast into the eternal dungeon, the Lake of Fire.

“And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.” Revelation 20:14

The following quotes are proof enough that according to the Bible Hell is REAL and God’s warnings are true!

“…the lowest hell…”, “…sorrows of hell…”, “…deeper than hell…”, “…Hell is naked before him…”, “…The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.”, “…sorrows of hell compassed me about: the snares of death prevented me.”, “…go down quick into hell…”, “…the lowest hell.”, “…pains of hell gat hold upon me: I found trouble and sorrow.”, “…her steps take hold on hell.”, “…Her house is the way to hell, going down to the chambers of death.”, “…the depths of hell.”, “…Hell and destruction…”, “…from hell beneath…”, “…his soul from hell…”, “…Hell and destruction are never full…”, “…hell hath enlarged herself…”, “…Hell from beneath is moved for thee to meet thee at thy coming: it stirreth up the dead for thee…”, “…be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.”, “…with hell are we at agreement…”, “…agreement with hell shall not stand…”, “…debase thyself even unto hell.”, “…cast him down to hell with them that descend into the pit…”, “…went down into hell with him unto them that be slain with the sword…”, “…the midst of hell…”, “…gone down to hell…”, “…dig into hell…”, “…the belly of hell cried…”, “…yet into hell, neither did I ever climb up into heaven…”, “…corruption is fled into hell to be forgotten…”, “…danger of hell fire.”, “…thy whole body should be cast into hell.”, “…which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.”, “…shalt be brought down to hell…”, “…gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”, “…cast into hell fire.”, “…twofold more the child of hell than yourselves.”, “…how can ye escape the damnation of hell?”, “…to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:”, “…shalt be thrust down to hell.”, “…But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.”, “…And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments…”, “…set on fire of hell.”, “…but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;”, “…death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.”

#2 Hell is a place of punishment.

“And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.” Matthew 25:46

Those on this earth who do not repent of their sin and by faith trust completely in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ to wash away their sins will go to this place of everlasting punishment. Everything we do in this life has consequences. The greatest choice you will make in this life is whether or not you humble yourself before God and ask Him to forgive your transgressions through His shed blood. The reason this is the greatest choice is because it has the greatest consequences. I find it amazing how many people, when you talk to them about being saved and escaping the wrath of God, will give you an answer like, “I’ll think about it.” “I’ll do that some other time, maybe tomorrow.” “I just don’t have time right now.” What these people are really saying is, “I want to see how much more of this life I can get by with serving myself, doing what I want to do.” “I am content with my self-righteous life.” “I want the pleasures of my sin more than I want to be saved.”

“Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.” Romans 1:32

People know that if they humble themselves before God and surrender their lives to God, God is going to change them. God is going to rid the unholy things out of their lives. People have such a desire to fulfill the lust of their flesh that they are willing to take a chanch that Hell is not real and die without Christ as their Saviour.

“It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.” Hebrews 10:31

#3 Hell is a place of torment.

“There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day: And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores, And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.” Luke 16:19-25

The Bible describes Hell as a place of burning fire, outer darkness, extreme thirst, pain, torment, worms that do not die, suffering, sorrow, regrets, memories, and hopelessness.

You may be reading this and you are a religious, church going person. There are many well meaning, good people in this world. You must realize that no matter how good you may think you are, you have a need of a Saviour. In the Bible Jesus told a religious leader that he needed more than just being a good person to see the Kingdom of God, he needed to be born again!

“…Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” John 3:3

You may go to church, have been baptized, give to charity, live a good life, but my friend have you ever been born again by the Spirit of God? Are you truly trusting completly in Jesus’ blood or are you trusting in your own good deeds?

“But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.” Isaiah 64:6

May I ask you a question? What sin with its temporal fulfillment is worth being lost without God for all eternity? Are things such as; lying, cheating, stealing, blasphemy, cursing, filthy communications, drunkenness, drugs, pornography, adultery, fornication, sodomy, lust, anger, wrath, malice, pride, covetousness, worth an eternity in Hell? What sin, are you willing to die and go to Hell for?

“Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.” Isaiah 55:7

#4 Hell is forever.

“And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. [15] And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.” Revelation 20:11-15

I want to warn you, my friend, that the first second you open your eyes and realize that you just died without Christ, died in your sin, died without God’s forgiveness, the very first second as the realization sets in that there is a Hell, and God is real, you will know you were wrong! “What did I do? Oh no! I’m burning! There are flames! I’m on fire! People all around me are screaming! I’m being tormented! I’ve fallen under the eternal judgment of a Holy God. I’m lost forever! Why didn’t I listen to God’s Word? Why didn’t I get saved when I read about how I could escape God’s wrath?” “Why didn’t I believe what I knew was right?” “Why didn’t I respond when God’s Holy Spirit spoke to me and told me that I needed to repent and ask God to forgive me?”

I beg of you to not ignore the truths written here. Hell is a real place. Their are people there right now suffering. There is a God that wants to save you from this awful place.

There may be some who choose to not believe God’s Word that their is a Hell.

#5 Hell is optional.

“The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:9

God, “…not willing that any should perish…,” sent His Son to die as a sacrifice and to shed His perfect blood to make an atonement for our sin. Countless numbers of people down through the ages have heeded this great message!

1. We are all born sinners.

“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” Romans 3:23

“But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.” Isaiah 59:2

2. Because of your sin a penalty must be paid.

“He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.” John 3:36

“For the wages of sin is death…” Romans 6:23a

The wages of our sin, what we earned because we deliberately disobeyed God’s law is death. Not just physical death, but spiritual death. Separation from a Holy God in the Lake of Fire.

3. God provided another way.

The rest of the verse explains that God has provided another way to pay for your sin that is a GIFT and completely FREE.

“…but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 6:23

God the Father, gave Jesus Christ to die as a payment for our sin.

“For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” 2 Cor. 5:21

4. God loves you!

Why would God give His only Son to die so that ungodly people could have their sin forgiven?

But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16

To believe in Him is to admit that God’s Word is true, that you are a sinner according to God’s Word, that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, died on a cross, was buried and after three days arose from the grave to make the payment for your sin debt.

5. Salvation is only given to those who ask in faith and repentance.

You must realize that nothing you can do; good works, baptism, church attendance, charity, etc, will NEVER save you from the wrath of God.

“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9

Only faith in the blood of Jesus can cleanse and save your soul.

“In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;” Ephesians 1:7

True Biblical repentance involves a willingness in your heart to turn from the sin that is hindering you from accepting Christ as your personal Saviour.

“For I will declare mine iniquity; I will be sorry for my sin.” Psalm 38:18

“…repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ. Acts 20:21b

We must realize that God the Holy Spirit reproves or convicts us of our sinful lost condition. Is God speaking to you my friend?

And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment John 16:8

It is when the Holy Spirit is dealing with you that God is extending His mercy for you to be born again. No one has ever been saved without being convicted by the Holy Spirit. Conviction is God letting you know you are a sinner under the wrath of God with no hope without Jesus Christ.

“And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.” John 12:32

“No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.” John 6:44

The Holy Spirit uses the Word of God to reveal the truth about the consequences of our sin and gives us hope of a Saviour.

“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Romans 10:17

The worst mistakes you can make is to reject the Holy Spirit when He is dealing with you to trust in Christ for salvation!

“Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:” Isaiah 55:6

Finally, the choice is completely up to you. God will not force you to receive His FREE gift of eternal salvation. It is yours today if you would simply turn your life over to Him and trust the Saviour, Jesus Christ.

“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Romans 10:13

My friend, is God speaking to you and telling you that you are on your way to this awful place? Would you please consider the two choices you have? Go on your way and do nothing about your eternal destiny, or get down on your knees in humility before God and confess to Him that you are a sinner, that you believe He shed His blood for your sin, and tell God you are sorry for breaking His laws and ask Him to have mercy and forgive you of all your sins?

“For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.” 2 Cor. 6:2

I beg you to please make the right choice. If you decide to reject this message of warning and go on your way, be sure in the great Day of Judgment that God’s Word will be used against you that YOU rejected the free gift of salvation.

If you would like to make the right choice and trust Jesus Christ as your Saviour, God is here with you right now, and if you simply talk to Him He will hear your prayer.

God Word says He is “…not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:9

“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Romans 10:13

If the Lord is dealing with your heart, would you sincerely and humbly make this meaningful prayer of salvation yours to God:..

“Dear Jesus, please have mercy upon me, a sinner. Please forgive me of all my sins. I believe You died on the cross for me, and I believe that it is Your blood that washes my sin away. I believe You were buried and that God raised You on the third day. Now will You please come into my heart, forgive my sin and save my soul? Thank You for saving me, Jesus.”
I hope and pray that you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Saviour.
