Orville-Theaker

Orville A. Theaker son of William and Frieda Theaker was born January 15, 1944 at the family farm in the Wolverine area. He is the youngest in a family of seven.
When a junior in high school, October 23, 1959 he accepted Jesus as his Savior. In November 1959 he surrendered to baptism and dedicated his life to do whatever God would lead. He graduated from Wolverine High School June 1961. He attended Midwestern Baptist College of Pontiac four years and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Religion in 1965. He married his high school sweetheart Beverly June 1964. God has blessed he and his wife with seven children all who are married and with 24 grandchildren.

He pastored First Baptist Church in Richmond, MI for a year and a half; Faith Bible Baptist Church of Bay Port, Mi for 7 ½ years; was assistant pastor and Christian school administrator at Faith Bible Baptist Church of Lapeer, MI. for one year. During these pastorates he did electrical work to help support his family.

November 1979 he moved his family to Wolverine as a temporary move between pastorates. Again his electrical work met financial needs.

September 13, 1981 he accepted the call from Wolverine Baptist Church for him to be their pastor. Over the years, he led the church in a building program to triple the floor space.

Pastor Orville Allen Theaker Sr. of Wolverine went home to be with his Saviour on Tuesday, September 22, 2015.  He passed away unexpectedly in his home. Orville was born in Wolverine, Michigan on January 15,1944,  the youngest of seven children born to William and Frieda (Briggs) Theaker. He graduated from Wolverine High school in 1961. He enjoyed hunting, golfing, cooking breakfast for his grandchildren, spending time with his family, and serving the people of his community. He used his trade as a Master Electrician to be a blessing to many. He spent countless hours helping others expecting nothing in return. Pastor Theaker was our pastor for almost 19 years at the Wolverine Baptist Church. I always thought of him as a straight arrow, an honest man and one willing to do anything to be a blessing to people. We will miss him. We also want to express our sincere condolences to his wife Bev and all his children, grandchildren and brothers and sisters. He is someone you can all be proud of. We will meet him again in heaven one day because of the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and His sacrifice for us at Calvary. – Mike & Donna Azure

Often when I see a pastor working on a church building I am reminded of the days the boys and I spent with Bro Theaker on the church roof in 1988.We enjoyed hearing him preach also, but remember him most from working with him. We will continue to pray for the church, and will pray for your family during this time of loss and transition. – Bob Ballou

Orville was one of my favorite people.I will miss him very much. We will meet again some day. Daniel Leitch

I well remember my good friend Orville during our high school days and while the Theakers attended Main Street Baptist Church in Harbor Springs. While such a tremendous loss for those of us who knew and loved Orville it is such a comfort to know that he is now in the Arms of our Precious Savior. We here on this earth will never know the many people who’s life Orville touched and was a blessing too. I am looking at his picture as I write this condolence and it is exactly as I remember him 50 plus years ago. Bev, I don’t know if you will remember me, but my wife Sue and I send our sincere love and prayers to you and your family during this time. Would love to talk to you sometime and reacquaint old times.- Richard Mottor, Peoria, Illinois

I will always think of Pastor Thearker as my Pastor. He was one of the last Pastor’s, that stood his ground on the King James Bible. He taught me what it means to really care for others as a Christian, He help me believe what it mean to be Reverend, and how to study to stay true to God. Lorrie and I will miss him, He is just one more reason I am looking forward to get to heaven, He was a great man, I thank our Lord Jesus Christ that I was able to learn and be a friend by him. Pastor Theaker you will be miss, and but the angels are singing and rejoicing that you are now home with Jesus. – Rev. Dale & Lorrieann Merchant

Pastor Theaker was a great stalwart of the faith. We had always looked forward to hearing him preach during our vacations to Indian River. He epitomized was a faithful and steadfast preacher should be. Uncompromising in his preaching, values and music. What a joy and blessing Pastor Theaker, Beverly and Wolverine Baptist Church has been for many years to us and our family. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him and loved him. We rejoice in knowing that he is the presence of our Lord and Saviour. – Pete & Marsha Senior

He was a very faithful, dedicated servant who was held in respect by all of us who knew him. His uncompromising stand on God’s word, the KJB, helped strengthen the web of strong faith of all Independent Fundamental Churches in Northern Michigan. He leaves a void in the hearts and lives of his dear family, local church, community, and all of us who knew him. Our deepest condolences to his dear wife Beverly and the family. Soon Jesus will return and we will all be reunited together for eternity. – Pastor Robert Barnett and Calvary Baptist Church of Grayling, MI.

Pastor Theaker led me to the Lord in October 1984. He taught me God’s Word, taught me how to pray and allowed me to be the Sec/Treasurer of Sunday School and allowed me to teach Sunday School.. He is greatly missed. A man of God who was true and faithful.. He still is missed. -Rosie Hahn
